Prostate Cancer Run
Prostate Cancer - Run for the Future
W.Bro. Colin Pruett of Carnarvon Lodge took part in the event on Durham Downs, Bristol on 20th September. Colin had been diagnosed with prostate cancer in November 08 and has undergone intensive Radio Therapy treatment, plus on-going Hormonal Injections, and after treatment is hoping he will be in remission. Colin has remained very open about his propbelm, and is hoping to draw attention to the fact that the disease which claims 10,000 deaths per year is preventable if caught early.
The object of ‘RUN FOR THE FUTURE’ was to obtain sponsorship money for the B.U.I (Bristol Urology Institute), at Southmead Hospital, to aid research into the possible causes/effects/treatment/ maybe leading to a cure eventually.
Colin to date has collected over £1200 with many Brethren donating, including large donations from his Craft Lodge – Priory, Carnarvon Mark Lodge, and Mark Province. He wishes to thank all those who gave generously, and sincerely hopes that their Sponsorship will help a very worthy cause.
The photograph 1 shows Colin at the finishing line ( he’s on the left) having completed the 5 klm run/jog/walk in just over 50mintues ish! Photo 2 shows Colin having just received his medal.
