Thieves damage Langport Masonic Hall.
We read every day in the press and see on the news the problems caused by thieves who steel cable from the railway network, but the high price of all scrap metals has implications for everyone it would seem. Thieves have removed the lead from the roof of Langport Masonic Hall, the theft was only discovered when water started leaking into the hall causing a considerable amount of damage. It was very difficult to know how to protect property that isn't occupied continuously but no doubt the lead will be replaced with something that's not quite so tempting for the light fingered.
It is hoped that the hall will be functioning again by the end of January.
