Provincial Royal Ark Mariner Assembly
Another very successful Assembly at Nailsea Masonic Hall.
It was a bright sunny Saturday morning for the drive to Nailsea for the annual Assembly of Royal Ark Mariners for the Province of Somerset. Arriving nearly an hour before the start of the meeting there was no space in the car park! it was obviously going to be a well attended meeting indeed there were just over 100 Royal Ark Mariners there to enjoy themselves.
The Provincial Grand Master entered the Lodge room in procession with his team of Provincial Officers, when all were in place he welcomed all brethren to the meeting, particularly R.W.Bro Geoff Isaacs PGM or Cornwall and R.W.Bro David James the PGM of Monmouth who had obviously travelled far to be with us. The assembly was opened in due form and the Provincial Grand Master and other distinguished brethren were saluted. The roll of Royal Ark Mariner Lodges in the Province was called, all were very well represented.
The Provincial Chaplain then gave in memoriam for the seven brethren who had passed to the GLA in the past twelve months. The Provincial Registrar, W.Bro John Smith then gave his report on the state of the Lodges in the Province. This was followed by a very interesting paper entitled "A deeper meaning of the Royal Ark Mariner Ceremony" by W.Bro Vernon Harding the Provincial Grand Chaplain, this was very well received by all brethren present and the PGM thanked W.Bro Harding for a very thought provoking paper.
The PGM then invested the following brethren with Royal Ark Mariner Provincial Grand Rank. W.Bro. Cyril Sahoy TI, W.Bro. Richard Stone 128, W.Bro. John Morgan155, W.Bro.Ian Walker 571, W.Bro.Derek Witon 730 and W.Bro. Stuart Hadler1548. He congratulated them all and hoped that they would enjoy their new status in the degree.
The PGM then welcomed the new members of the degree, there being present 12 of the twenty three brethren who had been elevated in the last twelve months. He then went on to address the Assembly. All business being concluded the assembly was closed and the PGM and his officers withdrew in procession.
The meeting was followed by an excellent lunch at the Masonic Hall.
