A new Commander and 30 joining members!
After suffering declining attendances over the last five years the Commander of the Lodge W.Bro Tony Snook and his successor W.Bro Bryan Foster decided that in order to revitalise the Lodge things must change. A new scribe was appointed, W.Bro Barrie Baker who together with Tony and Bryan set about rebuilding the Lodge. The Installation date was changed to Friday 2nd March and R.W.Bro David James, PGM for Monmouth agreed to come to give a talk on Royal Ark Mariner Masonry. In the months leading up to the meeting Barrie convinced over thirty Past Commanders to join or rejoin the Lodge.
Unfortunately when the big day arrived Tony Snook was unable to be present due to a family illness but W.Bro Ray Guthrie stepped in to conduct the ceremony and install W.Bro Bryan in the Chair. He welcomed all the new members (taking the photo of those present from the Chair!). David James gave a very interesting talk on the chronology of Masonry and the Ark Mariners place in it that was well received by all present.
At the Festive Board the usual toasts were observed and R.W.Bro James was presented with a bunch of leeks and daffodils as a small thank you from the brethren.
The first photo shows some of the new members being welcomed by the Commander. The second from L to R Ray Guthrie, Installing Commander who was then appointed Senior Warden! Commander Bryan Foster, David Nelson PGM and George Small - Junior Warden (acting)
