New Daylight Lodge
The Provincial Grand Master has indicated that we would be happy to see a new Mark Lodge meeting at Wedmore. There are successful examples of daylight Lodges in our Province already, Sir Isaac Newton Lodge (Craft) and Millennium Chapter (R.C.)
Two meetings of prospective founders have been held, it has been agreed to name the Lodge the Isle of Wedmore Lodge of Mark Master Masons.
It has also been agreed that John Peters will be the founding Master, Peter Layzell the founding Senior Warden and Barry Burridge the founding Junior Warden,Kevin Rees Jones the founding Secretary and Mike Waterman the founding Treasurer.
It is planned for the Lodge to meet three times a year, on the second Wednesday of May, June and September at 11am, May being the Installation Meeting. It is also planned that the meetings will be preceded by a rehearsal at 9.30 am and followed by lunch at 1.00pm.
At the moment seventeen brethren in total have indicated that they wish to be founders. This is not enough for the project to be carried forward, at least another seven founders are required to make a minimum of twenty four to meet the Provincial Grand Masters requirements. (there is no maximum number)
The cost of being a founder including first year subscriptions is expected to be in the region of £150. If the required number of founders come forward then it is hoped that the Lodge will be consecrated in May 2010. Any Mark Master Mason who is a subscribing member of a Mark Lodge and is in good standing with that Lodge can be a founder, it is not necessary to be a Past Master. The next meeting of prospective founders will be held on Wednesday 27th of January at Wedmore.
