Welcome to the Mark News Archive
On May 6th 2017 The Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons in conjunction with the Mark Benevolent Fund will be hosting the "Mark Charity Walk". It is hoped that the walk will raise in the region of £100,000
The walk will follow the route of “The Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Walk” and will take participants through four of the Capital's most beautiful parks, namely St James's Park, Green Park, Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens.
Starting (10.30am) and finishing at Mark Masons’ Hall, each participant completing the course will have travelled approximately seven miles, charted by 90 plaques set in the ground and will pass within sight of many famous buildings and locations associated with the Princess during her life including Kensington Palace, Buckingham Palace, Clarence House, Spencer House (one-time London house of the Spencer family) and of course St James's Palace.
Mark Grand Lodge have invited all Provinces to enter a Team of 6 walkers and for those Team Members to collect sponsorship for their efforts. To assist with this, Mark GL have set up a dedicated web site (http://mbfwalk.org.uk) and any sponsorship collected can be pre-allocated to the next Somerset Mark Festival if donors so wish. Anyone can donate, be it individuals, Lodges or indeed non-masonic friends.
Unfortunately, the date chosen by Mark Grand Lodge is the same date as the Meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Somerset, which means that the Provincial Rulers, Executive and Active Team will be unable to attend. VW Bro John Lendon PGJO has very kindly agreed to the Captain the Team and we are now looking for 5 people (not necessarily all of them Mark Master Masons) to accompany him. When we have completed the Team Lineup, details will be sent to Mark Grand Lodge who will set up our web site donation page. Further details will be added to this website on how to donate when the Somerset MBF Donation Page is up and running.
The next Festival in Somerset in aid of the Mark Benvolent Fund won't be held until 2029 but this is a great opportunity to raise some money in anticipation of that event and for the Walk Team Members to enjoy a great day out in our Nation's Capital.
If anyone is interested in joining VW Bro Lendon in London on May 6th next year, please email W Bro Tony Guthrie at your earliest convenience.
Details of The Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Walk can be found on the Royal Parks web site.
