The bi-annual pilgrimage to Mark Grand Lodge is top of list of Mark Freemasonry. Some thirteen hundred people packed into the Grand Temple to watch one hundred and fifty of their friends receive Mark Grand Rank.
The Somerset contingent was out in force. They were there to support Graham Jefferies and Dave Smith on their first appointments.
The day started, as always, in the Shakespeares Head for breakfast and a nourishing drink after the arduous journey to London. Before heading over to the Grand Temple for the main event of the day. Everyone crammed in to the hall to witness this magnificent event.
The Pro Grand Master said in his address: ‘How inspiring, it is to me, that so many Brethren are present from around the globe. Particularly, those who have recently joined the order. It is important to remember that at the base of all of our aprons is the skin of a lamb, pure and spotless.’
The Brethren from Somerset then retired to the Prince of Wales for an aperitif before head into the Grand Dining Room of the Grand Connaught Rooms. A scrumptious banquet was enjoyed with sumptuous wines and exquisite company.
The next trip to Mark Grand Lodge will be in September to support those Brethren receiving promotions. Watch out for the calling notice.
