Somerset Antient Mark Masons

The Somerset Antient Mark Masons is not a Lodge but a demonstration team of international repute! The team has thirty or so members and is now organised by W.Bro Michael Fazackerley. The team performs a ceremony that predates the formation of The Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons, the demonstrations are enacted in costume and have taken place all over England, Wales and Europe.

May 2019 – SAMMs celebrate a quarter of a century!

It was a marvellous celebration of a quarter of a century of the Somerset Antient Mark Masons! Barrie Baker, SAMM’s secretary ably assisted by his wife Philippa organised a truly memorable occasion for the Team with their partners and friends. Among the guests were the PGM Phil Voisey and his wife Gill, Deputy PGM Tony Guthrie and his partner Jayne Bush, Past PGM David Nelson with his wife Cath and Past PGM John Morgan and partner Derek Shailer.
We were blessed with excellent weather and were able to enjoy the early evening on the deck of the SS Great Britain, chatting in the sunshine and enjoying the views of Bristol and the dock area before retiring below to an excellent dinner. Dinner was preceded by a short and very interesting talk on the life and times of this wonderful old ship, given by one of the members of staff.
After dinner the formal toasts were given and the Past PGM R.W.Bro John Morgan gave an interesting and enlightening toast to the SAMMs and their work over the past 25 years.
The SAMMs secretary, Barrie Baker then introduced the members of the Team to the assembly, with some considerable humour and the occasional presentation. It was a splendid evening, well done Barrie!
