The SAMMs Team in Twickenham!

The SAMMs team just before the meeting, Tankards at the ready!

On the 27th January 2026 the Somerset Antient Mark Masters Team travelled on a very wet and windy day to perform their demonstration at the Middlesex Installed Mark Masters Lodge in Twickenham.

Arriving just after lunch but in time for several members to have a serving of ham egg and chips to fight off the hunger pains after such a lengthy journey.

The Masonic hall in Twickenham has a catering facility open during most days and when lodges meet. In addition, it has several temples and plenty of changing areas that could accommodate our requirements.

The meeting commenced at 1700hrs, and the business of the lodge got underway. The main item on the agenda was to install RW Bro Edward  Garty as Worshipful Master. Meanwhile the SAMMS team waited patiently outside in their regalia eager to perform the demonstration. They entered the lodge with their tankards full of cider (proper scrumpy) which took the lodge members by surprise especially as they were topped up during the ceremony.

The ceremony went well and was given a very generous acclamation by the lodge members. After which everyone retired to the festive board for a first class menu which included steak and chips!
