A BUSY NIGHT FOR F&U RAM 348

Friday 10th October was F&U 348 RAM’s first meeting of the new Masonic season and it turned out to be a very busy night. The members were pleased to welcome two candidates for a double Elevation ceremony and a Joining member.
Our candidates were Bro’s , Derrick Griffin from the William Long Lodge of MMM and Grant Peckham from the Portcullis Lodge of MMM. The ceremony went well under the direction of our new Worshipful Commander, WBro James Brown. Both candidates later stated that they had enjoyed the ceremony and looked forward to the Lodges next meeting, again another double Elevation in January, so they could understand just what they had been through.
Bro Steve Warwick of Cerdic RAM was our Joining member. He was fully booked in but at late notice he was unable to attend due to Illness, but he informed the Scribe that he would definitely make the January meeting and take his rightful place in the Lodge after being voted in.
One sad event of the evening was where the Lodge had to say Farewell to a long serving member WBro David Palmer who passed to the Grand Lodge above in September. David was our official printer and was responsible over the last 12 years for all the Lodge printing , including our Centenary meeting in 2015 and Banner Dedication ceremony in 2023. We shall all miss him greatly.
One other item on the agenda was to vote for WBro Jimmy Durant to become an Honorary member of the Lodge. Jimmy is suffering extreme Ill heath and has resigned from all masonic activity. He has in his own words “thrown the towel in” at the age of 93. He has been very generous towards the Lodge in both his time and financially over the very many years he has been a member.
The festive board was lively and a lot of banter was going on. We now look forward to our January meeting where we will do it all over again.
WBro Rod Green, Scribe.
