CERDIC MARK INSTALL A NEW MASTER
The 15th October witnessed a lovely night at Chard, where the main business was to Install Charlie Swaffield into the Chair. The day of the meeting had been a challenging one for DC Ian Clift and Secretary Paul Brice-Bullows who had to deal with a number of calls from brethren who were ill, injured and caring for family and would not be able to attend.
Unfortunately, one of the brethren unable to attend was the Master, Steve Warwick, who is currently recovering from surgery.
After welcoming the Deputy Provincial Grand Master Tony Guthrie, the Master in the Chair, Steve Clift, presided over the first items of business and then placed his brother Ian Clift into the chair to work the installation. Ian did a super job, with little time to prepare, as did a number of his supporting officers.
Ian then expertly presented the keystone jewel and MBF Grand Patron Gold Collarette. The new Master then invested his officers for the year.
Another key agenda item was to present a Grand Lodge Certificate to Bro Willam Bullows. The Deputy PrGM addressed Will as it had just been a few weeks earlier that he had presented a Royal Ark Mariner Grand Lodge Certificate to him in Cerdic Royal Ark Mariner Lodge, commenting that he couldn’t recall presenting a RAM Certificate before the Mark Certificate before!
The master thanked all the brethren and visitors who had helped out during the meeting to make it such an enjoyable night.
The brethren retired next door to the Phoenix Hotel to enjoy a lovely roast pork dinner with good friends and some witty speeches.
