And They’re Off!

With just two years to go until the Somerset 2028 MBF Festival, Brethren, Ladies and Friends gathered for an enjoyable race night at Keynsham Masonic Hall.

Approximately eighty guests were in attendance, creating a lively and convivial atmosphere throughout the evening. Among those present were a number of distinguished guests, including Phil Voisey, Mark Provincial Grand Master; Tony Guthrie, Provincial Grand Master Designate; Ray Guthrie, Craft Provincial Grand Master; and Mike Greedy, Craft Deputy Provincial Grand Master.

The evening opened with a welcome from the Master of Ceremonies, Lee Brimble, who outlined the format for the night. Thanks were extended to all of the sponsors whose support contributed to the smooth running of the event. Particular acknowledgement was given to Richard Dredge and his team for their careful organisation.

Proceedings began with, Lee, auctioning off the horses for the first race, followed by the opening of the tote. Early bidding set the tone for the evening, with a steady build in enthusiasm as each race unfolded.

Following the third race, guests enjoyed a curried banquet, providing a natural pause in proceedings before the final races of the evening. Thereafter, bidding became notably more competitive, with the closing races attracting particular interest.

By the end of the evening, over £2,000 had been raised in support of the Somerset 2028 MBF Festival.
