The Provincial Grand Master Phil Voisey was accompanied by the Provincial Charity Steward Val Cooke and Head of Fundraising David Maddern on a visit to the Somerset Freewheelers area base.

The visit was following a donation of £25,000 by the Mark Benevolent Fund to the Freewheelers to purchase two new BMW R1200RT motorcycles, one to be kept at the Brislington depot and the other, at the Taunton base.

The Freewheelers have been a registered charitable organisation since 1990. They provide an overnight emergency medical courier service to Bristol, Bath & Somerset hospitals, hospices & homes and average some 700 calls per month.

The two new bikes are marked to recognise the MBF as supporting the work of the Freewheelers

The Freewheelers not only carry blood, but also drugs, medical samples, breast milk and a number of other medical essentials, plus deliver every night to two local Air Ambulance bases and they do all this without any charge to the NHS! In order to function, they rely completely on donations.
